Aniridia Network UK's Annual Meeting and AGM 2010 will be held on Saturday 8th May 2010 at The Centre In The Park, Norfolk Heritage Park, Guildford Avenue, Sheffield, S2 2PL from 10.00am to 4.30pm, lunch and refreshments will be provided. Children are welcome but unfortunately we are unable to provide childcare. We would recommend that where possible two adults accompany children so that one adult is always free to concentrate on the meeting. Afterwards the committee will be going out for a meal and you are all welcome to join us. To register your interest in the meal please contact Katie Atkinson on 07792 867949 or katie@aniridia.org.uk.
What happens at a meeting? The meetings are a lot of fun, so if you haven't come before, please consider it! We have lively discussions on a range of topics relating to Aniridia. Previously we have discussed benefits and education to mention just 2 topics. We usually have a guest speaker such as a doctor or education professional. We also provide ample time for socialising and time just to chat and get to know each other. In previous years several people have joined the committee in going out for a meal after the meeting and there are plans to do this again this year.
How To Book:If you would like to attend the meeting please contact our secretary Jenny by email (jenny.langley@aniridia.org.uk) and she will send you a booking form as soon as they are avilable. We ask adults attending the meeting to contribute £10 if they are a member or £15 if they are not a member towards the cost of room hire and lunch. Children can attend the meeting for free.
Not sure if you're a member? We introduced an official membership scheme 2009 and those who joined last year will recieve this year's membership for free. If you aren't a member and would like to join please see our membership page for more details. You can still benefit from the discounted meeting fee if you join at the same time as booking your place at the meeting.
Positions on the ANUK executive committee are elected at each year's AGM. These positions are Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, Parent's Representative and several General Committee Members.
What does being on committee involve? The committee is responsible for the running of ANUK, including organising meetings, fundraising and producing leaflets and newsletters. Committee meetings are susally held at the weekend every month over the internet using Skype.
Get Involved: If you would like more information about any the positions please contact the current Chair, Katie Atkinson katie@aniridia.org.uk.

From the train station: To reach the Centre in the Park exit the station from the back (above platforms 6 and 8) using the footbridge over the platforms. Cross the tram tracks and take any tram departing from that platform (blue route to Halfway or purple route to Herdings Park). Get off at the fourth stop after the station, Arbourthorne Road. Continue to walk in the direction the tram was travelling, then take the second left hand turn onto Guildford Avenue. Follow this road until you reach the park entrance on the left hand side.
To reach the city centre form the train station exit the station as above but do not cross the tram tracks. Turn right at the exit to reach the tram platform. Any tram in this direction will take you to the city centre.
To reach the Centre in the Park from the city centre you can catch a tram from any tram stop. Stand on the side of the road where the traffic is heading downhill. Again you will need to catch a blue route tram to Halfway or purple route to Herdings Park.
The nearest tram stop to the coach station is Fitzallen Square/Ponds Forge. Exit the busstation from the main entrance, turn right and continue until reaching a crossroads. Cross the road and turn right on to the tram platform.
From most areas of the UK it is easiest to reach Sheffield via the M1 motorway. To reach Sheffield city centre leave the M1 at junction 33 sign-posted ‘Sheffield (centre)’. Then take the A630, ‘Sheffield Parkway’ which after 3 miles will become the A57, ‘Sheffield Parkway’.
To go directly to the Centre in the Park continue on the A57 for 1.4 miles then take the ‘Manor Park’ exit. Where the slip road meets Manor Way, turn left onto Manor Lane. At the fork in the road turn right to remain on Manor Lane. Continue along this road for 0.8 miles then turn left onto St Aidan’s Road. Then turn right onto Guildford Avenue. Turn right when you see the brown road sign indicating ’Norfolk Heritage Park’.
To reach the city centre continue to follow the parkway for another 2.6 miles where it terminates at the Park Square roundabout.
To reach the Centre in the Park from the Park Square roundabout take the Duke Street exit (A6135). After one mile turn right onto St Aidan’s Road. Then turn right again onto Guildford Avenue. Turn right when you see the brown road sign indicating ’Norfolk Heritage Park’.
If approaching from Manchester take the M67, then the A57, which will take you into Sheffield via Fulwood Road. Passing the University of Sheffield you will approach a large roundabout where you should take the fourth exit onto Upper Hanover Street (A61). Continue to follow the A61 until the junction with Suffolk Road where you should turn right. Then turn left onto the B6070 Granville Road. After half a mile turn right onto Donnington Road. Then turn right onto St Aidan’s Road and right again onto Guildford Avenue. Turn right when you see the brown road sign indicating ’Norfolk Heritage Park’.
Please note that significant changes were made to roads on the northern side of the city centre in 2007 so please make sure maps and satellite navigation systems are up to date.
There is limited parking available at the Centre in the Park. Alternative parking is also available on Guildford Avenue and the Church of the Nazarene on St Aidan’s Avenue.
